About This Book

Excellent! Russian Orthodox Priest Ivan Veniaminov lived in Unalaska Island in the Aleutian Islands from 1824 to 1834, recording ethnographic data about the Unangax̂ people that otherwise would have been lost. Veniaminov (now Saint Innocent) wrote in his journal invaluable information about Unangax̂ customs, traditions, songs, dances, language that shed a life on ancient Aleutian lifestyle. His writing have a strong ring of honesty and truthfulness.
