L'insediamento romano di Chiunsano

This volume presents the results of the excavations conducted at the Roman settlement of Chiunsano from 1992 to 2000 by the University of Bochum, under the direction of Prof. Hermann Büsing. Work at this site has allowed for the reconstruction of the layout and the principal buildings of the complex, attesting to a centuries-long presence of Romans in the Polesine area. Some finds, including the funerary goods of the so-called "Dama di Chiunsano," which are extraordinary for their richness and for the heterogeneous provenance of the ornaments, are datable to the second half of the 5th and the beginning of the 6th century AD, providing evidence for activity at this site in the late antique period as well.
