"On Christmas day 2009, Elke Vogelsang's dogs suddenly started barking outside the bathroom door of her apartment. Investigating the commotion, Elke found her husband, Carsten, unconscious in the bathtub, and her world was turned upside down. Carsten had suffered a major brain haemorrhage, and the dogs had in fact saved his life, discovering him at a crucial time. In order to aid his recovery, and to give herself a creative outlet, Elke started taking photos of their dogs to show Carsten each day. Over the next year, as Carsten slowly recovered, Elke's project became an obsession.
