Description and narration of public events, collective actions, and social movements related to recognition of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transvestite, and transgender rights and identities in city of Merida, Yucatan. Chronicle compiled and reconstructed from author's personal archives, oral interviews and newspaper reportages. Includes descriptions ranging from early police raids to activist meetings, to academic forums, to marches through city streets to public gay pride celebrations. Illustrates evolution in civic attitudes over 50 year period, but also mentions areas where LGBTTT people continue to struggle for change.
