Whitepatch

Whitepatch, an old manor house in East Kent is the true protagonist of this charming story. With its rambling stairs, secret rooms and passages, and generations of layers of history and construction, it shapes the lives of Colonel Doddingshead and his granddaughter Mary. When Mary falls in love with a young man the Colonel finds unsuitable, even if she is able to win over her grandfather, she still must face the curse that lies on every couple who marries in the old house.
