About This Book

It has often been suggested to me, following talks I have given in England and the United States about my memories of C.S. Lewis as a godfather, that I should write down my recollections so as to provide a more permanent record of them for posterity. What follows is my attempt to do this and is also a personal testament to the man, based largely on memories stirred by a number of personal letters written to me, my parents and others throughout his lifetime. Focusing on their correspondence, this book takes time to describe my godfather's friendship with my father and mother, for it was as a consequence of this that I had the great good fortune of becoming his godson. - Introduction.
