The Plays of Hrotswitha of Gandersheim

"Called by Renaissance humanist Conrad Celtes "the German Sappho," Hrotswitha (ca. 935-1000) was a prolithic author who wrote eight legends in verse, two historical epics, and six plays in rhythmic prose.
