This volume is part of a long series of classified correspondence relating to the slave trade which was presented to Parliament. The material in this series provides the official administrative and informatory papers on the extent and conditions of slavery, the slave trade, the efforts to abolish it and the measure of success achieved. In particular, Volume 16 includes papers relating to the suppression of slavery in Portuguese, Dutch and Swedish territories.
