This book includes a critical analysis by Judith LeGrove, with 70 illustrations, a fully illustrated catalogue of approx. 450 sculptures from 1961 to 2012 and bibliographic appendices. It will serve as an academic resource for specialists in sculpture as well as appealing to readers interested in the broader history of twentieth-century art. Yorkshire-based for over 30 years, Michael Lyons gained recognition in the 1960s through inclusion in group exhibitions such as the ICA's 'Young Contemporaries' and Whitworth's 'Northern Young Contemporaries'. In a creative career of over 50 years he has been acclaimed as one of the finest steel sculptors of his generation. Lyons has taught in the UK and abroad, and undertaken public commissions in the UK, Germany, Latin America and China.
