"This directory was compiled and published as part of the University of Minnesota's Ethnic Fraternal Project (1977-81). ...Intended to stimulate and facilitate the research use of ethnic fraternal records, this directory is composed of two sections. The first section--six essays--describes the history and development of ethnic fraternal benefit associations as well as the variety of research for which fraternal records can be used. The second section of the directory lists ethnic fraternal benefit associations.
