Antinoo

Monograph and catalogue on imperial statuary that offers an iconographic and aesthetic analysis of the classical representations of Antinous, a Greek youth favorite beloved of the Roman emperor Hadrian. After his premature death, he was declared the Last God of ancient Rome. The gentle gay religion of Antinous was the last manifestation of the ancient pagan faith, worshiped in both the Greek East and Latin West.
