Heyes and Curry were down to their last dollar when they reached Kansas City, or they never have risked joining the Cody Wild West show as a sharpshooting act. It wasn't only Curry's infatuation with the bareback rider; too many people on both sides of the law knew that the best shot, bar one, in the West was the wanted outlaw Jed "Kid" Curry. If anyone linked the Masked Marvels with the missing pair it would be all up with them.
