"'The Protection of the Environment under International Humanitarian Law in Non-International Armed Conflicts:' The study analyses whether international humanitarian law (also) serves to protect the natural environment and can promote its protection specifically during non-international armed conflicts. It focuses in particular on those humanitarian law rules that provide indirect protection to the environment through the protection of specific environmental functions for individuals and populations and examines repeatedly proclaimed customary law principles and their actual embodiment in positive law."
