About This Book
Returning from a cancelled house party, a young girl's world comes crashing down around her. Romayne Ransom finds a houseful of police officers and their leader proceeds to inform her of the illegal bootlegging activities that had been going on under and around her home. Her father arrives home and, realizing what is happening passes out. The girl nurses her father until his death, and while dealing with the shock also learns of her brother's involvement with the gang. The family loses their home and Romayne has to find a place to live and begin to earn her own way. A kind nurse and an elderly "aunt" help her along the way, and someone else, who she despised since that fateful night, has also been helping behind the scenes. A story of misjudged people and forgiveness.
