The Rule of Qumran and its meaning

This work has been written with at least five objects: 1. To show how the Rule of Qumran fits into its historical setting between the Old and New Testaments; 2. To show the relevance of the work for students of both Testaments; 3. To demonstrate how deeply into the past we must plunge in order to discover the ultimate sources of the thought of this remarkable body of men; 4. To bring out as far as possible the characteristics of that thought as it is revealed in this writing; 5. To contribute towards the ultimate healing of the tragic breach between Judaism and Christianity. - Preface.
