About This Book

The national imaginary is scarcely disappeared from the current global mindset. Globalization has increased transnational flows of people, economies, and information, but it has also militarized borders, commodified cultures, and reinforced patriotism. This contradictory situation regarding the national imaginary in the contemporary world has been a central motif of ruidosónœs artistic production. Ruidosón is a music scene born in 2008-2009 at a midpoint between Tijuana and the Internet. With the initial idea of developing electronic music based on regional Mexican genres, this scene has generated different strategies (rhetorical, narrative, stylistic, technical, and performancistic) in order to aesthetically incorporate the national imaginary and to think, from the artistic perspective, in its social, cultural, and political functions, both old and new, in the face of globalization.
