About This Book

Exhibition and story of the house constructed by Artigas (b. Brazil 1915-1985), planned in 1949 and constructed in 1953 to 1957 as a residence for Dr. João Luiz Bettega. It is, a clear example in Curitiba of the master's capacity of mixing his architecture with his political and aesthetic convictions and the strong influence of Le Corbusier's modernist architecture. The house has now been restored and now houses the Institute. Between the photographs and details of the work, the book includes testimonials from recognized Brazilian architects such as Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Joel Ramalho, Marcos Carrilho, Irã Dudeque, Key Imaguire Júnior and Manoel Coelho.
