Hey Gunther! Why are you here?

Walter Gunther enrolls in the University of Alaska in the mid-1940's when Alaska was still a United States territory. Walt continues to write his autobiography from a detached view and describes his adventuresome college years, which inluded odd jobs on a Yukon freighter and working on the construction of the Alaska-Canadian Highway. Later, Walt's mother moves to Alaska and he builds a house for her.
