About This Book
I found this to be a wonderfully interesting story about a French family from Bordeaux that goes to Cuba after going broke. The plot is complex. It's set in the early 1900s and paints an ironic picture of political life on the island. The family is pitted against a ruthless sharecropper who has swindled them, taking over their plantation by illicit means. Complications arise through the wrongful jailing of one of the sons in connection with this. I highly recommend the book.
