About This Book
This book is argument for an integrated approach to the study of social problems. Such subjects as poverty, racism, pollution, suicide, and alcoholism are often treated as if each were caused by unique solution. The location of social problems, the consequences of particular institutional arrangements, as well as the implications of different solutions to problems, require a careful approach. It is argued that sociology provides a framework for social change, because sociology necessarily encompasses a critical perspective, a commitment to action, and a humane feeling for one's fellow man.
