It was a dream come true .. .

Physiotherapist Nancy Spaulding had never been farther from her New York home than New Jersey. Suddenly she was offered the chance to visit a Greek island paradise, to continue treating a convalescing child she'd come to love.

There was only one problem: nothing she did seemed to please the child's older--and hopelessly overbearing--brother, Kostas. "This is no island for foreigners who will never understand our ways," he told her. "You cannot last."

But there had never been anything that Nancy couldn't do once she put her mind to it.
