About This Book

222 Steps is an art project that documents one day in the daily life of people who work in two buildings of great relevance for the city of Guadalajara, the Mercado Libertad or better known as "Market of 'San Juan de Dios', and the Cabañas Cultural Institute or Cabañas Museum, both located in the historic center of the city. The project translates into a photographic proposal by visual artist Gaal D. Cohen, which includes 22 portraits of museum workers and 22 portraits of merchants in the market - both spaces separated by only 222 steps. This project developed between January and May 2015, was born from the initiative of four students of the project "Museos y Comunidadʺ of PAP (Proyectos de Aplicación Profesional) at the ITESO.
