This book reflects on a new and constructive way to bridge the gap between theology and psychiatry based on Søren Kierkegaard's ideas about the demonic. Mental disorders affect the everyday lives a great number of people. A common element to this group of patients is that although treatment goes a long way, they are powerless when it comes to proper healing. Instead of getting to the root of the problem, symptoms are treated with ever increasing amounts of medication. Kierkegaard knew that the tortured mind is a demonic force, and that it is not enough to just alleviate symptoms for healing to take place. He specifically addressed the solution of the demonic problem and gave his work a robust solution for how to fight the problem. The book uses modern psychiatry to provide a much more fruitful alternative for future medical treatment.
