About This Book
The Children's School of the National College of Education was established in 1926, for the purpose of studying and guiding the development of normal and gifted children from the nursery to the junior high school period. The National College of Education conducts courses for parents, and the Children's School sponsors a program of activities in which teachers and parents cooperate. The school is organized for demonstration and informal investigation, with groups directed by experienced teachers. The attack on curriculum problems has been experimental, making use of children's spontaneous interests to develop units of work, while also initiating enterprises, while continually observing and recording pupil responses. This book will, it is hoped, be helpful to those beginning the adventure of creative curriculum-making.
