About This Book

This report is a summary of the 2011 commercial Pacific herring Clupea pallasii and Pacific salmon Oncorhynchus spp. fisheries within the Chignik Management Area (CMA; Area L). The CMA encompasses all coastal waters and inland drainages of the northwest Gulf of Alaska between Kilokak Rocks and Kupreanof Point. There was no commercial herring fishery in the CMA during 2011. All five species of North American Pacific salmon were commercially harvested in the CMA during 2011: Chinook O. tshawytscha, sockeye O. nerka, coho O. kisutch, pink O. gorbuscha, and chum O. keta salmon.
