Roger Fenton

Roger Fenton created Pasha and Bayadere in 1858 as part of a suite of photographs that were inspired by his visit to the Crimea in 1855. Made in Fenton's London studio, this picture expresses the Victorian photographer's fascination with the "exotic" East.
