E.M. Forster's modernism

"E. M. Forster's Modernism is the first detailed and comprehensive investigation into Forster's relationship to Modernism. Forster has not traditionally been included amongst the major Modernist writers, and has often been regarded as a straddler of traditions. This fresh and original study situates Forster's fiction firmly within a range of early twentieth-century contexts: socio-political, generic and aesthetic. Medalie advances the argument that Forster's fiction embodies an important strand within Modernism and in doing so makes the case for a new definition and interpretation of "Modernism."
