Harriet is married and leads a busy life with her husband and working with female inmates who need a helping hand. One day she receives a letter from her husband, Godfrey, from Italy, who starts acting strangely. An old friend of her husband, Amelia Bianchi, also starts showing up in visits to London and even to Harriet's home. Is Godfrey having an affair with Amelia or is the reason innocent?
