Abstract: The interrelationship of food and drugs for the elderly within a biomedical and social perspective is discussed. This book consists of edited versions of papers presented at the Fall 1984 symposium, "Food, Drugs, and Aging" in Cleveland, Ohio, and sponsored by the University Center on Aging and Health at Case Western Reserve University. The monograph is comprised of the following parts: Part I: the biological and medical aspects of drug treatment in the elderly; part II focuses on the relationship of diseases and nutrition as affected by social, cultural, and economic concerns of older people; and part III concludes with therapeutic issues related to drugs and nutrition.
