Trends in the internationalization of insurance

"This report is organized in three sections preceded by an executive summary. In the first section the influences and causes behind the internationalization of insurance are investigated, explained and analyzed. In the second section the international restructuring transactions in the industry over the last five years are examined. Analyses are performed in order to identify where the investment flows are occuring. In addition, the trends, and their implications for North American insurers, are examined and commented upon. The third section provides a comparison of the profitability of insurance business on an international basis-- an essential consideration for insurers considering international expansion. Due to the difficulties encountered in performing these comparisons, some explanations are given about the differences in accounting and reporting practices between countries."--Introd.
