Cutting the Cord

Mamaphiles: Cutting the Cord relays stories on motherhood and childrearing from radical mamas, who share their experiences weaning their children, their relationships with partners and parents, sending their children to school, and reconciling radical beliefs with parenthood status. Mothers write retrospectively on their children growing up, describe umbilical cords and placentas, and travel stories. Contributors represent a variety of ages, races, and economic backgrounds. Included is a comic by Ayun Halliday of East Village Inky.
