The emergence of Britain's global naval supremacy

Although it was the Seven Years War (1756-63) that confirmed Britain as the leading maritime power, this text argues and demonstrates that it was the thinking through of military strategy, planning and operations in the war of 1739-48 that laid the foundations for Britain's subsequent supreme position.
