About This Book

Michael Tenzer (1869-1952) ran away from home in Galicia, Poland in 1883, and immigrated to New York City. He married Rose Steier in 1890, and had seven children. In 1927 the family organized the Michael Tenzer Family Circle, Inc., which purchased family cemetery plots, aided less fortunate members of the family, assisted family members still in Poland and elsewhere in Europe during the Holocaust, sent packages to those family members serving in the U.S. armed forces, etc. In 1977 the Circle held its fiftieth anniversary dinner in New York City. Other Tenzer relatives immigrated to Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec, Canada. Others of the family immigrated to France, England, South America, South Africa and elsewhere. All too many of the family remained in Poland, and leaf 11 contains a list of those who perished in the Holocaust. Includes ancestry to about 1690 in Poland for this Jewish family and their relatives. The text also includes various legends about family episodes in Poland.
