The Skin We're In

Represents the collective wisdom of parents raised during the civil rights era, nurtured by parents who'd lived through Jim Crow, and raising children in an era when the appeal of "coloblindness" denies the continued practice of discrimination. Parents and teens recount racial injustices, recollections of abrasive teens sent North during the Jim Crow era to current racial profiling and negative images of black youth. Focuses on how parents can help adolescents deal with anger and frustration borne of racism and grow to be healthy adults, secure in their racial identities.
