On the inclusion of respect for democratic principles and human rights in agreements between the Community and third countries

"The two Commission communications contained in this Supplement demonstrate the European Union's commitment to promoting the rule of law and respect for human rights. The first contains guidelines to be put into effect in the near the [sic] future, lays down priorities for EU action and maps out a new approach to devising measures and programmes; the second discusses one of the instruments whereby the Community can include respect for democratic principles and human rights in agreements with non-member countries."--P.
