About This Book
<div>Paperback ledger book with brown covers and darker brown spine. The book is in fair condition, but with many rips and tears along the edges on both covers. On the front cover, there are some rips that have been taped over. Not all the pages inside are used. All minutes taken in cursive. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The by-laws of the club found in the front of the book define the group's object as: "The object of our society shall be to arouse a common interest in the advancement and development of our locality." Charter members were: Flora Hartill, Mrs. K.F. Johnson, Lillian Dow Kaup, Abigail Roberts Hartill, Edna Spencer Dow, Robinett May Sale Blake, Josephine May Sale</div><div><br /></div><div>This group encouraged the building of a library, and organized a "traveling library" for their area in Young's River and Lewis and Clark. They were also part of a Red Cross Auxiliary group. There are also several mentions of the Club participating in the County Fair with a booth. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The minutes often mention helping a school, but we are not certain which school they might be talking about. A school closer to Walluski? Or the Lewis and Clark River area? <br /></div><div><span><br /></span></div><div><span>The record ends with a vote to disband and form a new group in 1918, but we are uncertain of what group was reestablished. We do not have their minutes, until 1963 when they were called the Youngs River Meadows Club. <br /></span></div>
