About This Book

The Electro-Tint Engraving Company, Philadelphia started in business in 1888 supplying electrotypes from art. Eventually their primary business, starting in about 1898, was supplying printing plates for three-color printing to companies throughout the US. This saved printers the difficulty of making color separations and accurate plate making. This Electro-Tint Engraving Company sample book: Three-Color Album, ND (ca. 1900), 10 un-numbered pages of three color halftone illustrations from art. The last page gives an explanation for ordering the printing plates for each of the illustrations at $1.00 per sq. inch for copper and 75 cents per sq. inch for electrotypes. -- David A. Hanson documentation.
