About This Book

This book seeks to delve into this character who, in just three years, was one of the great makers of his time, as bright as fleeting. Businessman and builder, lawyer and philosopher, few could resist his charisma. Between 1887 and 1889, thanks to his training and idiosyncrasy, he generated a huge network of relationships that allowed him to generate a whole "rausista system" of social bonding that, in the manner of a large web, caught everything for himself. Although he is on the podium of the great villains of national history, little is known about how he transformed, since his arrival in Uruguay in 1887 at only 29 years of age, he is a character known and admired by all the social sectors of that finisecular Montevideo.
