About This Book

Any and every foray into the border issue necessarily involves a tangle of conceptions and concepts that go beyond common sense. It is in this sense that the present work addresses issues such as security, defense, smuggling, violence, globalization, regional integration, international law, social, political and economic realities of border regions, among others. The border, therefore, goes much further than the traditional definition, that is, as a border region of the state and is subject to different interpretations of the rest of the national territory. Thus, this (re) definition of the concept of frontiers was conceived through interdisciplinarity, the search for the singular and particular understanding inherent in these regions.
