This volume represents a set of papers written by colleagues, friends, and students who have worked with Professor Francisco Caudet throughout a long career in research and teaching through various countries in Europe and America. The volume consists of 4 parts dedicated to nineteenth century Spanish realism and naturalism, Spanish culture during the first third of the twentieth century, Republican exile of 1939, and reflections about the relationship between literature and democracy.
