About This Book

Photographer Facundo de Zuviría (Argentina 1954) always photographed the front facades, looking in those simple and austere lines, that define their essence, an objective mode of representation. With this idea, he created a kind of personal catalog of urban facades, middle class housing in neighborhoods, modest shops and some others whose meaning seems difficult to specify. "I have always photographed façades from straight on, seeking in these simple, austere lines the defining features of their essence: a sort of innately Argentinian quality manifest in urban street fronts. With this idea in mind, I undertook to put together a sort of personal catalogue of urban façades: middle-class homes in traditional neighborhoods, modest storefronts, and others whose exact significance it would be difficult to define."
