The wedding cup

A historical drama about the tragic love triangle between Sophonisba, a Carthaginian general's daughter, and the rival rulers of two North African states. Based on actual events during the Second Punic War between Rome and Carthage, the story was well-known in the Renaissance and served as the basis for plays, operas, and paintings. Three shorter and lighter works are also included -- a dialogue between God and Moses on how to write Genesis; a variation of the Theseus and Ariadne myth, and a Greenwich Village date which goes awry.
