About This Book
This is an Urdu translation of the book in English by C.F. Andrews, titled “**Zaka Ullah of Delhi**” (5 editions listed under OL328165M , OL 3706213M, OL4708376M etc.). Both Maulvi and Munshi were used as common titles for Zaka’ullah Dehlavi (1832- 1910), a great scholar, prolific writer/translator and educationist. Ziauddin Ahmad Barni, who took the initiative of translating C.F. Andrews' English book into Urdu and also self-publishing it in 1952 from Karachi-Pakistan, enjoyed a unique privilege. At Delhi’s St. Stephen’s College, he was not only a student of C.F. Andrews, the author of the book, but also a neighbour of Maulvi Zaka’ullah in a locality of Delhi called Koocha-e-Chailaan. Besides, Mr. Barni’s father, Munshi Muhammad Din, the famous calligrapher, was a friend of Maulvi Zaka’ullah.
