Shirley Valentine

First staged in Liverpool in 1986, 'Shirley Valentine' takes the form of a monologue by a middle-aged working-class Liverpool housewife which focuses on her life before and after a transforming Greek holiday. Russell adapted his play for a successful 1989 film version starring Pauline Collins, who had been in the 1988 West End stage production.
