Making treaties

A film about indigenous land rights in British Columbia, it examines differences between rural and urban treaties, the Nisga'a Final Agreement and predictions for the future. "In order to create social change I think you must start from a balanced perspective, " says Richard Hersley, the film's co-writer and director, "we wanted people to have their voices heard and to begin talking more to each other, that is the only way it will work." Chief negotiators from the province and Canada share equal time with people from First Nations communities in expressing their concerns, hopes and fears for the coming days of treaty making.
