Americans are shown as kind heros, while the Nazis are portrayed as the villains they were! Children living in 1943 naturally heard about the great war, but this book most certainly brought the North African Campaign to life in a way they could understand. We see all sides of Arab Culture with children both good and bad behaving the same as their US counterparts. A great read for all ages, especially for those of us who lived in the shadow of this war. Beautiful b&w and full color illustrations by the author keeps the action alive. Some of today's books try to convey a message, however you won't find a modern book of this quality and insight on any shelf today
