About This Book

"Querejazu should be credited for trying to revive Bolivia's weak tradition in drawing. A well-intentioned first effort, this book may provide a stepping stone to further research. After a meager introduction on the origins of drawing in Bolivia and its practice in the Peruvian Viceroyalty, Querejazu provides a general overview of the subject from colonial times to the end of the 19th century. The focus of the book, however, is a selection of drawings from different periods in a private collection of La Paz, mainly 20th-century artists active until mid-century, such as Arturo Borda and Maria Luisa Pacheco. Profusely illustrated in color and b/w"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
