The book is a thorough analysis of the architectonic and urban development of the city of Oaxaca from the last decades of the colonial period to the early 20th century. The author presents a novel revision of the city during the Porfirio Diaz regime, concluding that Oaxaca was the natural historic consequence of previous periods.
