Penn Reynard, a recent college graduate with an English degree, can't find a job anywhere except at a local big-box hardware store working returns. The constant pressures of dealing with hostile customers, oblivious coworkers, and overbearing management begin to take their toll on him and Penn tries to break free of retail's clutches before his desired career path falls out of reach.
