Considering that she was an orphan with no background and no special aptitude for anything, Janna Smith seemed to be doing very nicely for herself, here on the glamorous Côte d’Azur as secretary/companion to a well-known lady author. But for secretary/companion, read dogsbody, Janna thought bitterly when her employer was being more than usually temperamental and unkind.
